Christmas and the turn of the year are coming nearer and nearer. But shortly before the end of the year Setlog is happy about a new customer on board! Santa Claus now uses our software OSCA to manage and optimize his supply chain. In the following and with his permission we are happy to present a new case study to you and explain how Santa uses OSCA.

Like other companies, Santa started out small. At the beginning, the demand for gifts was still very low: while at that time he only ran his business from one location, the demand and his clientele grew with the age of the world, which is why he now delivers gifts worldwide to make millions of people happy. Not least because of the variety of Christmas wishes, there is a need for increased production of toys and other gift items. The increasing demands on Christmas gifts also led to ever higher demands.

In concrete terms it means:

On average, Santa Claus delivers around 640 million gifts on Christmas Eve. He has to travel 313,157 kilometers per hour to distribute these gifts.

A sensible supply chain management is the be-all and end-all. From quality management to warehouse management, route planning and transport: Santa needs a lot of help with these complex processes. His elves and his reindeer, as part of the supply chain, are a good support for him to do justice to this mountain of tasks.

Furthermore, a suitable means of transport is important to deliver all gifts on time. Here, too, Santa Claus can rely on the help of his reindeer. His means of transport must be able to withstand the different weather conditions and requirements of the different regions in which he delivers. This also means that the goods must be properly packaged and transported safely. Rapidly changing weather conditions must also be taken into account – thanks to the transparency guaranteed by OSCA, the transport can be redirected quickly and reliably – part of the process optimization provided by our software.

Just like other companies, Santa Claus is aware of his social and ecological responsibility. With OSCA VCM, he succeeds in committing himself to sustainability. Not only does his reindeer emit hardly any pollutants, but with the help of the software all information and master data around his production site at the North Pole are recorded, the OSCA VCM Collaboration Module guarantees his good business relations with elves, reindeer and parents. Santa Claus wants to be sure that the elves work under good and fair conditions during production as well; through evaluations and questionnaires in the Collaboration Module, he can also be sure of a good business relationship in this respect.

With the help of OSCA, a transparency is achieved that the elves urgently need when Santa is making his rounds. If something goes wrong, the Shipment Tracker can immediately tell them where Santa is with the gifts and when he will arrive in which fireplace. The annoying Excel spreadsheets and exorbitant emails have in the past often led to a child receiving his gift late or not at all. Parents, as part of Santa’s supply chain, can also use OSCA to see exactly when the gift will arrive. With OSCA, the trust of the children and the parents is guaranteed and ensures a long-term commitment and cooperation.

Elves, parents, reindeer and Santa Clause: All those involved can now do justice to the complex supply chain with our software, optimize processes and continue to make faces laugh.

As the official partner of Santa Clause, we at Setlog would like to make the world and the Christmas business a little better and wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
