Together with BVL-Regionalgruppe Ruhr and LogistikCluster NRW, we invited to our headquarters in Bochum’s Jahrhunderthaus on March 22nd to network with about 130 experts from various sectors of economy.

setlog and bvl regional group meeting on the topic of digitization and logistics 4.0

“Digitalization and Logistics 4.0 – Still vision or already reality?” was the exciting topic of this year’s networking event, which took place for second time in a row. Interesting talks from top-class speakers, expert discussions and inspiring conversations were waiting for us.

After a first delicious welcome snack, BVL regional group speaker Horst Neller and our Managing Director Ralf Düster welcomed the guests of our networking event. In the spirit of digitalization, we received greetings by video message from Prof. Dr. Andreas Pinkwart, Minister of Economics, Innovation, Digitisation and Energy North Rhine-Westphalia.

The first talk of the afternoon “Industry 4.0 – The darn seventh year” by Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Michael ten Hompel, Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics, took us on a journey through the various phases of industrial development. Key message of the lecture: We live in a time in which current technical developments are overtaking the possibilities of their use.

Speaker Dr. Karsten Schweichhart, Data Economy Executive at T-Systems International GmbH, presented the Data Intelligence Hub. This data hub is a platform for secure data exchange between companies to make their supply chains more efficient.

During a coffee break, all guests had the opportunity to exchange their ideas and to network together with some coffee and cake.

Marvin Beitzel, Senior Planner Supply Chain at Marc O’Polo and Carolyn Krawczyk, Customer Relations Manager at Setlog, showed us the advantages of a global SCM system such as Setlog’s OSCA® in a panel discussion.

Michele Carrol, President of the CSCMP Counsel of Supply Chain Management Consultants in San Francisco, told us how Silicon Valley, one of the most important IT locations worldwide, sees a global SCM in the networking world. She was connected live from the United States via webinar.

During a get-together with tasty Currywurst all guests had the opportunity to review the exciting lectures. We would like to thank all participants and of course especially the speakers for the great event and are looking forward to another BVL event in 2019.
