(Bochum / New York / Amsterdam, July 12, 2023) Fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, who passed away in 2019, kept an eye out for new directions in the fashion industry throughout his life. The same applies to the company he founded for its digital transformation. To prepare itself for the future with transparent supply chain management, the well-known fashion brand is introducing the cloud-based software tool OSCA from Setlog GmbH in Bochum, Germany.

“We have grown enormously over the past ten years and are investing not only in stationary retail, but also in our digital business. OSCA brings more transparency to our supply chain and lets us track our purchase orders digitally,” says Rudy Boogaard, Senior Director Operations & Supply Chain at the headquarters of Karl Lagerfeld in Amsterdam. “We are pleased to be able to support the world-renowned brand in the digitalization of global procurement,” emphasizes Setlog board member Ralf Duester.

The implementation of the software is simple. Goods flows can be handled quickly and entirely with it. Karl Lagerfeld provides its orders from its ERP system to the production sites or intermediaries via OSCA. The SCM software serves as a central communication tool – from order confirmation and delivery planning to transport bookings. In addition to costs, it can be used to monitor volumes, lead times, electronic packing lists, transport lead times and delivery dates, among other things. The logistics service providers transfer advanced shipping notifications (ASN) and tracking data into the system via EDI. OSCA is also used to control the follow-up process – including coordination between the freight forwarder and the distribution center on the timing of goods delivery.

In addition, the warehouse management system of the distribution center has been integrated
into the tool. The barcodes of the delivered boxes are recorded and the data on the incoming
goods quantities are automatically entered into the tool. Users can read and document the
respective status of orders on dashboards. If delivery data changes or delays in production or
transport occur, all partners in the supply chain are informed.

“With the help of OSCA, the entire purchasing and transport process is standardized and
optimized with all partners connected to the system. Full transparency in the supply chain is
essential when changes occur at short notice. Companies in fast-moving consumer goods
industries can no longer do without digital tools these days, where supply chain disruptions
happen regularly for various reasons,” says Rudy Boogaard. Spontaneous adjustments of the
modes of transport – for example from ocean to air – are thus easily possible and immediately
comprehensible for all parties involved.
