The 5 Worst Mistakes in Selecting a SCM System

If a company has decided to implement a SCM system to increase transparency in the supply chain, the project team cannot start immediately. Although there is a temptation to achieve rapid success within a short period of time and to do as much work as possible in parallel, it is not advisable to rush things. Because wrong entries always lead to wrong conclusions in the system. Errors should be avoided right from the start. Among the worst when selecting a SCM system:

1. requirements are not clearly defined
2. internal processes are not unique
3. processes are not reconsidered and the system is simply placed on top of them
4. too many modules and details are integrated immediately instead of gradually
5. contact persons of the user are not authorized to make decisions and plan too little time

Clarify these issues and process structures before implementing a supply chain management system based on them.
