(Bochum, October 8, 2018) Since October, the quality inspections for the entire Galeria Kaufhof product range have been controlled on a single central platform. The cloud-based quality control software from Setlog GmbH in Bochum replaces e-mails and Excel lists and acts as a central communication platform for Galeria Kaufhof\u00b4s quality management as well as laboratories and purchasing agencies.<\/p>\n
The aim of the quality management is to ensure that the department store products comply with legal regulations in the countries of production and with higher internal quality standards beyond. In particular for high-risk groupings such as toys, small electrical items and consumer goods, the aim is to guarantee that no dangerous substances or defective products are sold. Furthermore, the company wants to make the testing organization even more efficient and the performance of the testing laboratories as transparent as possible.<\/p>\n

The product range of the department store chain includes textiles, electronics, household goods, toys and groceries. Every year, the marketability of more than 70,000 articles must be ensured by random checks. The focus thereby lies on the company`s own brands, which are manufactured mainly in Asia by some 500 suppliers and sold mainly in Europe and North America. Excessive concentrations of chemicals in textiles, softeners in children’s toys, messy seams or non-colour-fast textiles should be detected in the manufacturing process.<\/p>\n
For this purpose, Galeria Kaufhof first transfers the order data with the corresponding article<\/p>\n
information from its own Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to the platform. All activities and documents, starting with the placing of the inspection order and ending with the results, are centrally stored and legally confirmed. A dashboard displays the status of an inspection and the tasks to be done. This allows, among other things, to bundle economic inspection packages, avoid double inspections and comply with specific regulations in the target markets. Once the inspection has been completed, the data is returned to the ERP system at Galeria Kaufhof.<\/p>\n
